Poker Flight

The First Poker Flight this year is Saturday May 4,2013. (Rain Date is May 05,2013) The day begins with a Pancake Breakfast starting at 0800. Donation for the Breakfast is $5.00. Then we depart for the flight.(The Last Plane Should Depart No Later Then 1100) The route of travel this year  will be 15G – 67D -16G- 10G – I40 – 15G. Our first stop will be Reader- Botsford (67D) A Grass Strip! Our next Stop is Seneca County 16G. From 16G we travel to Holmes County 10G. From 10G we travel to Richard Downing I40. We will pick up our final card at Skypark!  Entry is $5.00 per hand. Enter as many times as you wish. Those not flying can have a pilot pick the cards at each airport for them. This is open to all Pilots in the area and all are encouraged to Join us! Call Holly in the Skypark office for details.  (330) 334-9921.

Spring Trip 2013

This year we had 9 Aircraft depart Skypark on Friday April 05,2013 for Savanna Ga. Three “150′s” including  yours truly flying in formation. Two fuel stops and 6.2 hours of flying and the 150′s were in Savanna Ga.(Tail wind down and back)! The weather was great! We did the River Walk, a presentation at the hotel  on aviation, and the Mighty 8th  Air Museum.  Also  Bruce Anderson and his wife Connie flew up from Florida  to meet us.  We had a good time and are looking forward to next year! Hope you can ” Join Us Next Year”!

Memorial Day Trip

This year we will be going to wv62 Windwood Resorts over the Memorial Day weekend. Check Air-Nav for all the data on the airport. We depart Skypark Friday May 24th and return on Sunday or Monday Rooms are $72.00 to $ 115.00 Per Night . Activities include Hiking, Swimming, Golf, Bicycle Rental. Canoes and kyacks are available for a fee. We are working on the rental van to transport us to cannan for some shopping. Three of  Skypark’s  ” Newest Pilots”  to take their Check Rides. On the left is Chris Brocato. Chris took his check ride in August  2012. He is responsible for the new weather radar you have at the top of the steps.  Center is Denise Elsey. She got her ticket on November 29, 2012.  Denise led a “Work Detail” at Skypark to clean the rental aircraft inside and out  a couple of years ago.  On the right  of Denise is Matt Brewer. Matt has been a active member at Skypark and took his check ride on December 06, 2012. On the far right is Mike  Kovello. Mike took his check ride on  12/12/12  (this date won’t happen again for 100 years!)   To all  four  Pilots we give a hardy “Well Done”  Congratuate them when you see them. For them the “Sky’s the Limit”. We will be seeing them on our ” One Tank Trips”

Wright Patterson Museum Bus Trip

The Skypark Airport  Wright Patterson Bus Trip  Sunday January 27, 2013  was a success!! We had 40 Pilots, Family and Friends enjoy the trip. We started with Donuts,Cookies, Coffee, and Three types of Juice in the Skypark Community Room before the trip. The Weather down was fine and dry! All had a great time at the museum. They now have a Space Shuttle Simulator the was used for all but the last two flights, that  prepared  the Astonauts for their pressing mission. We had dinner in Hillard Ohio and the Bob Evans Restaurant. During dinner we all were looking at weather radar on our I-Phones for the icing conditions in  Cleveland.  We didn’t hit mist till Lodi. After the bus left Skypark for Cleveland, it started Freezing Rain! We lucked out again!! Hope those who didn’t make this trip will make it mext year. “Happy Flying”

2013 Canada Fishing Trip

 The First Informational Meeting for the  2013 Canada Fishing Trip to Mantua Ontario was Thursday Feb. 07,2013  at 6:30 PM.  The dates for the trip are  July 12,13,14. We have several cabins reserved.The cabins will sleep four or five persons. At $25.00 Per Person Per Night “What A Deal” Boats provided at no additional cost!!  This is a family trip so wives and children are welcome! Latest Solo

Our newest Solo Pilot  is “J.B” Burns.  JB soloed on 3-9-13 in  N739BX. His instructor is Ryan Weber.  JB is in our Monday Private Pilot Ground School Class  and is energetic about flying.  “Congrats” to him for this accomplishment and make sure you shake his hand when you see him. Ask him about his Medina Adventure on his  ” First Solo “.
