Skypark Summer Celebration (You Missed It!)

Posted On July 14, 2015

Skypark Summer Celebration was July 12, 2015. This was a Rain Date and guess what? More Rain! We had a light turnout but we made the best of the day. The Civil Air Patrol raised the flag for the event at 0900  as we remembered  those who passed since June  2014. The car cruisers starting arriving at 0900. And a good turnout of cars we had! Angel and Steve Lawrie  had the Steel Band for music in the hangar. You can’t beat the sound, but they sure can beat those drums! Ken Wipf , Lisa Ritter , and Paul Vendetti had the grill detail. (Lisa did a lot of prep in the kitchen and kudos to her.)Did I mention Hartzlers Ice Cream? Renee Hartzler  served the dessert delights that are made from only Pure Ingredients and No Preservatives.

Here comes University Hospital’s Helicopter. The Civil Air Patrol guided it to a tie down. The front was moving in from the west and the helicopter had to depart after 30 minutes. Here comes the rain! We moved the kid’s games into the hangar. We had a lot of participation in the corn whole game. All the kids got prizes and it made the rain tolerable for them. The band played on. Wait the rain is clearing!  Seven  Aircraft are going to attempt the Spot Landing Contest.  Paul Lutz brought out his RV for a low pass and some fancy flying!  Gary Anderson had a full aircraft as he attempted stardom. Wipf  flew 9 Bavo Xray as he attempted to win the David Clark Headset.  Oh ,  I didn’t mention  Rick Vierheller  and 733. Rick has won first place for several years now for spot landing. Jeff Hartzler brought out his 172..  He and his partner  Stephen Zaleski both flew in competition . Steve Lawrie flew 733 to compete. Devin Angles was driving the Kubota Hay Ride. He made one trip with 15 Skypark attendees as the rain returned. They all got soaked! But it didn’t dampen their enthusiasm.

And the Spot Landing  Winners are!

First Place:      Rick  Vierheller               Prize:     David Clark Headset                     $ 345.00 Value

Second Place: Stephen Zaleski               Prize:     Soft Comm Red Barron Headset  $119.00 Value
